Further details beyond what's in the listing: It's a full-on unmodiied euro version, not conversion to euro-look. Allegedly no rust, no engine smoking ever, no leaks of any kind, AC blows cold, suspension operates properly and upholstery was recently replaced.

Crazy price? Other obvious caveats? Thanks,

Dave

Looks pretty clean. Rust free is a bit of a tall horse to get on for any 116. These cars hide rust like you can't believe. PPI by a competent shop a must. Price a bit high by current market but if all checks out if you can land it for 20K ish I think you'll be laughing.

Looks like a good deal to me. But I'm biased since the specs are similar to mine, and that one is in better shape than mine.

The VIN ending in 00923 suggests this is really a 1976 car, not a 77. Several things have been changed to US versions, including the speedo, radio, parking brake release knob, and warning lights. Weird that it's got snow tires on it.

I wondered about that too. The agent lead me believe that's cause previous owner wanted Michelins and availability of 14" tires is so limited. But who knows?

As for the other stuff it seems like somebody did go to some effort to partly americanize it, yet mechanicals clearly remain euro (e.g., no US emmissions stuff at all). Radio is obviously a later addition.

Not buying that reasoning. Those are not safe tires for that car except for slow winter driving. They're way undersized for a 6.9 at 195/70R14, have a load rating that is too low for the car, and a Q speed rating which is just 99 mph.

Hmmm, good point! Not a concern however, cause if it comes to pass I'll immediately upgrade to 15" wheels and suitable tires. I live in Utah. No plans for any slow winter driving in that car, ever. That's why I've got a tank-like Suburban k2500. Fast summer driving is another matter altogether....

The car is no longer available as of June 7. The date of the first post on this site 6/16. Curious.

Curious? Not sure why, nor what difference it makes. Nevertheless, to gratify your curiosity, the backstory is this: I put deposit on car to make sure it wouldn't get away. $500 is cheap insurance against making a much larger mistake. I continued due diligence before actually paying for it and discovered this site shortly before doing so. And BTW, my first post actually on 6/7.

Does this trouble you, Jack? It's curious to me that this is your sole contribution to the thread. You seem to be suggesting something more sinister.

Congrats! Looks like a very nice car and considering the cost of a restoration the sale price is more than reasonable. Now you just have to find a front apron...
