I have finally decided to go down the AMG route. Having attended the M-100 gathering in NY, I have a clear vision of my 9er. AMG parts and Penta wheels show up occasionally on eBay but, the specs seem to be all over the map. Lastly, I really like the Lorinser front end....are those findable?

Here is an AMG front spoiler on German Ebay, but looks to be a bit rough:

My car originally had fully painted Ronal Pentas. It was impossible to avoid paint chips and they were out of round anyways. I had a local Mercedes parts specialist near me back then so I traded for my current wheels. I think I'll go back to Pentas someday.

That bottom link of the white car is the exact look I am trying to accomplish. I think that is a Lorinser front end....so, I know they exist. As for the rims, I have been told to stay away from the Chinese made versions. They tend to be out of round. And, I wonder if powder coating could solve the chipping issue?

The white car is my car when I first bought it. I bought it for the value of the low mileage 6.9, but it had tons of modifications. As you can see, everything was over painted white (the prior owner actually said he bought the whitest white he could find). I drove it like that for a while, gradually removing the worst idea white parts, like the wheels and the overpainted side molding. I eventually decided to get the paint off the chrome, remove the overpainted chrome fender flare things, and I never liked that trunk spoiler.

It has Recaro type bucket seats and a wood center console storage compartment. It did have an AMG emblem on the trunk so I thought most of the parts were AMG but I later learned the front and rear "bumpers" and lower side pieces are Lorinser.

One of the strangest mods is notice the front grill is not the original grill, I don't mean the insert, I mean the outer part of the grill. It's a from some other model Mercedes and is not chrome. I guess this smaller grill fits better with the Lorinser bumper.

This is what it looks like now.

There were a lot of "AMG" 450SL's done with a similar look to my car, but I've only seen a few 450SELs done that way. Funny enough Morris Day was driving something similar in one of the Prince movie sequels.

Powder coating would help with wheel paint chipping issue. More of better done AMGs had polished lip Pentas. That would help, much of the chipping occurs at the lip when tires are installed, the other problem area is around the lug nuts.

Agreed....the new version looks less cheesy. Any fix on where to obtain that Lorinser front end piece?

I have never seen one for sale, but then again I wasn't looking for one. You are correct to call them pieces, no functional bumper capability at at all. I assume they are made of FRP. I'm also not sure if I'd like the look with just the front piece without the rear bumper replacement also. I bet someone could make a mold and copy mine fairly easily for you if it comes down to that.

The search to restore my now rogue 6.9 continues. Trolling through YouTube, I found a 6.9 in Aus. with headers made by Genie. I emailed them today about inventory ( thinking it might have been a one-off project). Waiting for an answer. Anybody seen this?

That's it! Are they available? Could not see if it had side skirts but those are obtainable elsewhere if not on this car. I remember seeing your post but was not thinking that direction at the time. All help appreciated.

Those "bumpers" on the black car are slightly different than mine. But I still don't know if that means it's not a Lorinser, or that mine is not. For sure it would give you what you are looking for either way.
